Recently founded annual award Albert Kapović will be handed for the first time during the opening night of this years Zagreb Film Festival on October 17th. Award was named after deceased founder and president of Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Albert Kapović, and will be given to distinguished filmmakers whose work has significantly contributed to quality and promotion of Croatian film.

Short film 'Yellow Moon' directed by Zvonimir Jurić won the award for best short film on recently wrapped 4th Vukovar Film Festival. Initally, 'Yellow Moon' formed a part of 'Zagreb Stories', film omnibus produced by Propeler Film. Best feature award went to Turkish and German film 'Bal' by Semih Kaplanoglu, while winning film in documentary category is German 'Kinder Vom Friedrichshof' directed by Juliana Grossheim.

Submission time for the upcoming, 8th edition of ZFF ended on the 15th of August. We would like to kindly thank all of you who submitted your films and showed interest for our festival. During this years Zagreb Film Festival, on October 18th and 19th, three experts - Frank Boyd (UK), Wendy Bernfeld (Netherlands) and Asta Wellejus (Denmark) will work with talented filmmakers as a part of intensive workshop on new media and new modes of storytelling. We are in search of applicants and projects whose goal is to experiment with new ways of storytelling by using Internet, gaming, cell phones and similar techniques. Six Croatian films were awarded at this year official programme of 16th Sarajevo Film Festival. The main award, Heart of Sarajevo in the short film competition went to Zvonimir Jurić's 'Yellow Moon', a story about two neighbours sharing intimate details about their lives. 'Originally, 'Yellow Moon' was a part of 'Zagreb Stories', film omnibus dedicated to Croatian capital. Jurić's short has also been shown individually at 60th Berlinale earlier this year.
